Home Found!

Looking at the flour kittens today it is hard to believe (even for us!) how tiny and fragile they have been once. Now 2 months and 2 weeks after we found them they have turned into a group of elegant teenagers. Still playful, but now walking on long legs balancing a slim tail. Their eye colour has turned into a light lime green, their faces unmistakably say: Look!!! I'm a proper big cat not a teddy-bear anymore!

At the beginning of this month Edvard left us to live with his new family in Dahab, a lovely couple with a nice little garden. Ed's new name is Lynx and he does his best to grow into it :) His new family passed more than one sleepless night with the little bundle of energy, who was obviously very happy to meet new playfellows.
Yesterday we had a little photo shooting at their place to show you how well he is doing!

Hiding ...

Watching ...

Fighting !!!

Playing, playing, playing ....

In the mean time Lynx's twin brother Cookie clearly proofs the blood relationship.

Just like Lynx he is into plants now ...

A proper hippie ...

Treehugging feels so good ...

Arrrrrrrrrrr!

Cookie will travel to Germany in autumn. He found a great home at one of the most beautiful spots of the country. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, castles and cows he has a great chance to live long & prosper and to enjoy always enough of his beloved yoghurt! Until then he and Terror will stay together.

And finally we made the decision, to keep Terror, our Lady in Black. She is such a brave, straight forward character that we're sure she will find her place in between our adult cats.

So after all we are proud to announce a HAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPYYYYY END for the three flour kittens!

Thanks so much to EVERYBODY who helped and supported us, especially to Animal Welfare Dahab, ESMA, Jana & Aisha our great cat-sitters, Adam who brought kitten milk from the UK when there was not kitten food available on the Sinai as well as to Love Meow
for publishing our story.
THANK YOU!!!

Just to let you know ...

The flour kittens are happy and growing! Their eye-colour is slightly changing, they found out how to use a litter box and their latest favourite dish is boiled chicken with some rice and cat milk. Yummy!!!!
And - they are still looking for a home! Can you say no to these eyes?

And look Ed is trying the lion rooooooooooaaaar!

Prison Break

After 8 days in their foster home the flour kittens are getting more and more mobile. In the first week we had to wake them up to feed them regularly, now is is them who remind us regularly of their meals. In case we are not fast enough they leave their basket protesting. Miiik, miiik miiiiiiiiik!

"Oh, grandmother," she said, "what big ears you have."

Look at these ears!!!! What a change compared to last week when we found them ... We will continue to pursue this issue!

The Wild Lions Are Soooooo Hungry

Breakfast in the garden is just the best ...
Kittens: YOU THERE! WAITER THAT WALKS ONLY ON TWO FEET! WHERE IS MY MILK!
Waiter that walks only on two feet: At once, milady! Certainly, sire!

Terror - or ... Yoda???

All three are doing very well and getting more and more interested in what's going on around them. Their eyes and their senses of hearing become better and better, their ears grow. Have a look at Terror - or is it Yoda?

May the force be with you!

Edvard, Terror & Cookie: The first days ...

Opening the eyes in Dahab is not always pleasant. Three kittens (10-12 days old) were found on Assalah Square covered in flour. After just one day they have already learned to drink from a feeding bottle. They look strong & healthy, drink regularly and sleep a lot. They have the strong will to survive and are looking for a nice home as soon as they are a bit older.

May I introduce: Flour Power. Impossible to stop moving just for a moment!

Edvard was found because he was screaming like hell, he was also the first to find out how the feeding bottle works.

Terror, so tired after a big portion of baby-milk. She is pitch-black and the tiniest of all three. We are happy about her great appetite.

Cookie happy after some food and cuddels. We guess he will have long hair when he is older. He has the beginning of a slight Mohawk along neck and spine.

Kitten milk formula

Oh no! Whole Dahab ran out of kitten milk! Luckily we found a recipe from a German breeder that worked really well for the flour kittens. In case you are in a similar situation here is the formula:
  • 50g Bebelac Lactose free (!) baby milk powder
  • 1 egg + 1 yolk
  • 1 tea spoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tea spoon glucose (grape sugar) or honey
  • a dash of dry yeast
  • 1 drop vitamin B-complex
  • 150 ml water or fennel tea (good against congestions)
-> Mix all the contents and heat the part you need for feeding up to 30 °C (~ hand-hot).
The rest of the mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for 24 hours.
